Efrén Muñoz is a PhD student at the University of Lleida since October 2014 (FPU 13/00168; Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports; Spain government) having won the first position in Earth Science. His PhD is focussed on water and sediment fluxes in the River Cinca (middle Pyrenees), with the objective of constructing (i) water and sediment budget of the drainage basin, analysing the effects of Mediano-Grado Reservoirs, (ii) study long term morpho-sedimentological changes and (iii) river management in terms of fluvial restauration. The research is developed at the Department of Environment and Soil Sciences and included in the project MorphSed (CGL2012-36394). This thesis is supervised by Dr. Ramon J. Batalla (University of Lleida) and Dr. Damià Vericat (University of Lleida).
Efren has a degree on Geography from the University of Santiago de Compostela, and MSc on GIS and Remote Sensing at the University of Zaragoza. He has specialized in the field of physical geography; he has gained field experience in the field of fluvial geomorphology (Hydrometric Technician, from July 2013 to October 2014 collaborating in multiple research projects directed on the Fluvial Dynamics Research Group, RIUS) and dendroecology by collaborating on research projects at the University of Santiago and at the Pyrenean Institute of Ecology (CSIC). He has extensive knowledge of GIS and Remote Sensing techniques applied to the Earth Sciences.
